Why I switched to Republican: We need jobs

Certainly, it has surprised some in our community that as a lifelongDemocrat and a member of the United Steelworkers of America for 36years,I decided to become a Republican.

It wasn’t a choice I made capriciously, nor was it something that hadn’t already been a long time coming.

I'd like to start out by saying that I’m proud to be a steelworker,and proud for standing up for jobs in Georgetown County, S.C.I’ve beenpresident of USW Local 7898 for 22 years.

SCGOP Chairman: Democrats’ silence on healthcare is deafening

South Carolina Republican Party Chairman Karen Floyd today releasedthe following statement on President Barrack Obama’s new $1 trillionhealthcare plan, and state Democratic gubernatorial candidates’ silenceon the issue:

“When it comes to the idea of government-run healthcare,South Carolinians have been clear that they do not want futuregenerations crushed under the debt it will entail, and they do not wantWashington bureaucrats making their healthcare decisions for them,”Floyd said.

SCGOP Chairman comments on House Republican agenda

South Carolina Republican Party Chairman Karen Floyd today issued the following statement on the state House Republican Caucus’ agenda:

“It’s never been more important to have our Republican leaders so focused on creating jobs and improving the economic climate in our state, and I am pleased to see those goals represented so prominently in the House Republican agenda,” Floyd said.

Sharing Our Conservative Ideas

We can take our nation back in 2010. As evident by big wins in NewJersey, Virginia, and Massachusetts and public polls showing PresidentObama’s popularity dropping like a rock, we know that Americantaxpayers are sick and tired of extreme spending and debt.

But while everyone is fed up with the Democrat’s irresponsibility, wecannot win unless we start promoting conservative ideas andalternatives.
