Dear Friend,
South Carolina Democrats Jim Clyburn and John Spratt, two high-ranking leaders in the Democrat-controlled U.S. House of Representatives, are blocking passage of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) modernization that gives law enforcement officials the power to monitor dangerous terrorists. FISA modernization is bi-partisan legislation supported by President George W. Bush and more than two-thirds of the Democrat-controlled U.S. Senate.
Today, the Charleston Post & Courier called failure to pass FISA modernization “highly irresponsible” (Charleston Post & Courier Editorial, 2/29/2008).
Jim Clyburn and John Spratt have demonstrated reckless disregard for our safety and security by blocking common-sense legislation aimed at preventing terrorist attacks. Each day they continue to block this legislation is another day terrorists are free to plan attacks on our families and communities. Their actions constitute a breech of the public trust, and they should be held accountable.
NOW IS THE TIME FOR ACTION!
Please join me in demanding Jim Clyburn and John Spratt stop politicizing the safety and security of South Carolina families. Sign our petition today urging Clyburn and Spratt support bi-partisan anti-terror legislation passed by the U.S. senate.
Sincerely,
Katon Dawson Chairman, South Carolina Republican Party |
